About Dr Beena Bansal

Dr. Beena Bansal holds a Doctorate in Medicine (DM) in Endocrinology from the Sanjay Gandhi Postgraduate Institute of Medical Sciences (SGPGIMS), Lucknow — one of India’s premier medical institutions. With 25 years of experience in endocrinology, she has built a practice around a belief that medicine doesn’t end at the boundary of science — it extends into the humanities, into how people live with illness and how doctors understand that experience.

Bridging Training and Practice

Over two decades of clinical practice, Dr. Bansal came to a realization: while doctors are rigorously trained in scientific knowledge, the doctor-patient interaction in the clinic demands something training rarely addresses — an understanding of the complexities of human behavior and communication.

To address this gap, she initiated a series of conversations with psychologists and social scientists, exploring where medicine meets human experience. These conversations are archived as FEM & Humanising Medicine, a body of work reflecting her ongoing inquiry into what it means to truly understand a patient’s illness — not just diagnose it.

This inquiry continues through an upcoming podcast, where she plans to explore how patients’ own experiences of illness can inform and shape scientific knowledge itself — not merely be filtered through it.

Door to Care

In 2018, Dr. Bansal founded Door to Care, an Endocrine & Diabetes Clinic and Research Center, as a deliberate departure from conventional patterns of care delivery. The clinic reflects her belief that every patient’s illness is part of a unique, unfolding story — one that deserves careful listening, not just clinical management.

Prior Experience

Before founding Door to Care, Dr. Bansal served as Director of the Division of Endocrinology at Medanta – The Medicity, Gurgaon, a large tertiary care center. During her time there, she established protocols for inpatient diabetes management — work she continues to develop through her newer venture in care operations.

Athshé Health Systems

Alongside her clinical practice, Dr. Bansal founded Athshé Health Systems Private Limited, a DPIIT-recognised medtech venture based in Gurgaon, in January 2026. Athshé is built on the idea that the same rigor applied to bedside care should extend into the tools doctors use to deliver it. Its flagship product, GlucoYantra, is a clinical decision-support system for inpatient diabetes management — an area Dr. Bansal has worked on since her time at Medanta, where she first set up protocols for inpatient diabetes care. The work continues her long-standing methodology on insulin management, now being developed toward regulatory approval and clinical trials at leading hospitals.

Door to Care Foundation

The Door to Care Foundation, a Section 8 nonprofit, extends the clinic’s philosophy beyond the consultation room. Through its space and programming, the Foundation runs conversation series and patient narrative work — bringing people together to talk about living with chronic illness, often alongside a shared hands-on craft like pottery or embroidery. It also supports Saksham, a welfare initiative for people with Type 1 diabetes, and pursues research into patients’ lived experience of chronic conditions and how knowledge moves between doctor and patient. The Foundation reflects Dr. Bansal’s broader belief — that understanding illness well requires listening to it, not just treating it.
